At NOVA Automation, the day-to-day operations require precision, attention to detail, and seamless communication between teams to meet customer demands. Behind the scenes, Brian Herrera, the Parts and Manufacturing Supervisor, plays a crucial role in ensuring everything runs smoothly. With a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Brian’s role encompasses a variety of tasks that keep both customers and employees satisfied.
The Daily Responsibilities of a Parts and Manufacturing Supervisor
Brian’s title may be “Parts and Manufacturing Supervisor,” but his contributions go far beyond just overseeing parts and orders. He’s heavily involved in customer relations, project management, and continuous process improvement within NOVA’s operations.
Managing the ERP System
One of the core aspects of Brian’s role is updating and adjusting the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system,. This system is central to tracking time, managing orders, and keeping everything in line. His ability to manage and adjust data in the ERP system ensures that the entire company operates on accurate and real-time information.
Customer Communication
Brian spends a lot of time working directly with customers to provide estimates and manage orders. He’s the first point of contact for many customer calls, working to ensure that each inquiry is addressed promptly and thoroughly. It’s not just about getting the job done, it’s about building relationships and trust. He takes pride in maintaining strong relationships with customers over the phone and via email.
Collaborating with Engineers and Production
Every customer’s order is unique, and Brian is deeply involved in coordinating with the engineers and the production team to ensure that the customer’s needs are met. From initial estimates to final production, he acts as a liaison, relaying important information between departments to determine costs and production timelines. This collaborative approach ensures that all aspects of an order are handled effectively and efficiently.
Procurement and Parts Management
When it comes to purchasing components or “buy-out parts,” Brian ensures that all necessary components are ordered, and inventory is updated. He’s also in charge of creating cut-lists for orders that require custom parts. Coordinating with the procurement department and making sure everything is stocked and ready for production is key to meeting customer deadlines.
Order Management and Shipping
Once the customer orders are in motion, Brian ensures that the process doesn’t stop. He coordinates with the customer and various NOVA personnel on order releases, maintaining progress and updating internal systems as well as keeping the customers informed. Whether it’s cutting, welding, painting, or assembling smaller parts and assemblies, Brian is ready to step in when necessary to expedite orders. And when it’s time to ship, Brian ensures everything is packaged and shipped through UPS or FedEx Freight to get the parts to customers on time.
Revising Estimates and Following Up
Finally, Brian doesn’t just move on to the next task once an order is completed. He regularly revises previous estimates, follows up with customers on potential future orders, and keeps the lines of communication open for continuous business growth.
A Thriving Work Environment
While Brian’s daily tasks are both varied and demanding, it’s the people he works with that truly make the experience rewarding. “I feel like we have a diverse team of individuals that all inspire me in one way or another,” he shares. Brian feels incredibly fortunate to be part of a team that’s more like a family, where everyone works together to overcome challenges and succeed.
At NOVA, leadership is inspiring. Brian specifically points to Don, who he considers his direct boss, as being instrumental to his success. “He has been phenomenal to work with, and I feel we make a great team,” Brian says. This strong leadership helps drive the team forward, allowing them to effectively handle daily stresses and unexpected challenges.
Building Trust with Customers
Beyond the operational side, one of the most rewarding aspects of Brian’s job is building trust with customers. By being the reliable point of contact, Brian plays a vital role in fostering long-term relationships with clients. Whether it’s a small update or a large order, Brian is committed to ensuring that every interaction leaves customers feeling confident in NOVA’s ability to deliver.
Brian Herrera’s role as Parts and Manufacturing Supervisor at NOVA Automation is a perfect example of how teamwork, dedication, and effective communication come together to drive success. From managing systems to maintaining customer relations, his contributions ensure that every project runs smoothly from start to finish. At the end of the day, it’s not just about getting parts delivered, it’s about creating meaningful relationships and delivering exceptional service, and Brian does both with pride.
